第一首單曲已經讓人深深感受到她經歷過的一切
Head Above Water整首歌都是圍繞著遇溺
裡面有幾句歌詞我想解釋一下
Keep Sth. Head Above Water 除了指讓頭部維持在水面上不使頭部溺水之外
也可以指不使某人深陷困境
裡面一直提到dont let me drown
除了是不要讓我遇溺之外
也是指把我從困境中救出來
另外有提到這兩句
I'll meet you there at the altar
As I fall down to my knees
是指在教堂中跪著祈禱
不是指在聖壇跪下
指Avril祈禱著神能把她從困境中救走

整首歌大概意思就是Avril這幾年的經歷
被Lyme Diease一直煩惱著
就像獨自在大海中
永遠也看不見海岸
無論怎麼掙扎也逃不出這困境
最後落入水中失去呼吸
希望神能救救她
